IIPM conducted a Hi Tea Lecture on " Mobile Film Making" on 9th March,2020 at Andhra Chamber of Commerce, T.Nagar.
It was a one of a kind event with Dr.O.Arivazhagan who was the Chief Guest wherein 3 Films were screened in 1 hour by 1 Director. All the Short Films carried with them a social message that is very much the need of the hour. The first film that was screened was
"H2O" which spoke about water scarcity and how to reduce
water consumption, it also beautifully portrayed the bond between father and daughter and water consumption was woven into the story.
The second Short Film “Eari Karaiyinile” is based on the crime triangle addressing social crimes. This film is based on Crime Triangle Analysis and highlights the importance of opportunity inadvertently provided by the victims to the motivated offender and the absence of guardians. The Film was made to create awareness among the victims, especially the young women, in a visually interesting manner.The Short film talks about the crime triangle of Opportunity, Desire & Ability. The idea assumes that crime or disorder results when 1) likely offenders 2) suitable targets come together and 3) time & space, in the absence of capable guardians for that target. The Director of this Short Film wanted to introduce and apply Project Management Principles and techniques in movie projects to manage movie projects
“on time and within budget” as a part of his film career.
The third film "The Perfect Salesman" talks about the marketing strategy employed by a salesman to sell his product. This film completely destroys and disproves every outdated stereotype about sales and brings in a fresh perspective on modern sales marketing.
All the 3 Short Films were written and directed by Dr.O.Arivazhagan,in his speech wherein he addressed an audience of 40-50 people from Film Industry. He said that all the films were made about 90% using Mobile, less budget and completed within 2 weeks. He also said that these short films fell under "Disruptive Technology". There was a Panel Discussion with 4 leaders from different industries who spoke about the inroads that mobiles were making in the movie industry, they also raised doubts on how to effectively use mobile phones for taking photos,videos.
