In continuation of PMI's commitment to advancing the profession of
project management globally and in particular, in the Asia-pacific region,
PMI®
opened its India offices at a Grand opening ceremony at
Hotel Taj Mahal in New Delhi on Friday, 28th March 2008.
Initially, Ms Yanping Chen, Vice-Chair, BOD, PMI® spoke about the growth
plans in India and China and how India is important to PMI® and the profession
of project management.
According to PMI's CEO, Mr Gregory Balestrero, India
will have two offices, one at Delhi and another one at Mumbai. India is
considered
one of the fastest growing markets for advancing the profession of project
management especially in the Infrastructure, Construction and IT industries.
Mr. Gregory Balestrero indicated that PMI® would be approaching IITs and IIMs
to have accredited programs in Project management in association with PMI® in
the coming years.
Mr. Raj Kalady, MD, PMI®-India spoke about his plans for advancing the
project management in India.
IIPM had the privilege of inviting a few
corporate officers as IIPM guests to the opening ceremony and the event was well
attended by many REPs and Chapter officers from the length and breadth of the
country.
